Marine pest monitoring manual released
The recent release of a new manual will help make marine pest monitoring a little easier. The Australian marine pest monitoring manual describes the nationally agreed processes, procedures and standards for monitoring design, sampling and analysis. These procedures will ensure that approved monitoring programs use nationally consistent methods that meet agreed quality standards.
A companion document, the Australian marine pest monitoring guidelines, has also been released. This sets out the guidelines for conducting marine pest monitoring in Australia and provides the rationale for the processes and procedures set out in the manual.
Both monitoring documents have been prepared under the National System for the Prevention and Management of Marine Pest Incursions as a tool to help those responsible for planning and undertaking monitoring programs meet consistent national standards.
