Review of in-water cleaning released

A review of the biosecurity and contaminant risks associated with in-water cleaning of vessels is now available at www.marinepests.gov.au/publications.

This report reviews the efficacy and application of in-water cleaning techniques that can be used to manage biofouling on vessels and considers how these technologies interact with antifouling coatings. It presents a framework to assess both the contaminant and biosecurity risks and the benefits of in-water cleaning.

This report was commissioned by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to support  the upcoming review of the Code of Practice for Anti-fouling and In-water Hull Cleaning and Maintenance (1997).
